Florida Concealed Weapons License-Firearms Safety Course

This course is designed to teach students basic knowledge about Florida law and usage regulations as stated in the Florida Statutes, as well as case law as it pertains.  The primary objective for this class is to ensure that each student is capable and able to demonstrate safe handling, as well as a discharge, of a firearm while in the presence of a certified Firearm's Instructor.


This course is offered at all Gun Shows in Florida that are hosted by Sports Show Specialists at 10:00am and 2:00pm each day.  This course is also going to be offered at our Melbourne, FL location during the evening hours or by appointment for groups of 5 or more.

The fee for the course is $50.00 which covers the cost of the instructional portionor the class and certificate of completion.  The services of a completed application, fingerprints, and passport photograph are also available for an additional fee ; all of these items are required by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in order for your application to be processed. 


Information to be known about this class:

  • Payment is only accepted in the form of cash
  • There is also a fee of $97.00 due to the FLDOACS for the actual permit and background check; do not bring this to the class
  • Acceptable forms of ID include Driver's License or Identification Card issued by your state, U.S. Government issued Passport
  • You are not required to be a resident of Florida to apply for this permit or to partake in this course
  • You must be 18 years of age to take this course, but please remember that you are not eligble to apply for the permit until you are 21 years of age; unless you are active military
  • A background check is required and completed by the State
  • When you have completed the course you are not able to walk out and purchase a firearm without a waiting period.  The State of Florida has up to 90 days to issue you a CWL or contact you regarding any issues
  • Completion of this course and/or obtaining a Florida CWL does NOT give you the same authority as a police officer
